History at Benambra before the KellyGang

Originally part of Omeo B.

First taken up by overlanders from New South Wales in 1841 to 1843

Benambra was held by Patrick Buckley between 1862 to 1872. He was a major land owner in Gippsland

In 1876 the license was held by Charles MacPherson Fraser and the half yearly license fee was £43 15
