Fitzpatrick Incident 15/04/1878 At this time the police could not get any guides or assistance from the inhabitants. I was the exception and helped the police search parties as a guide. I then joined as a mounted constable at Wangaratta.? (RC439)

Photograph Warby Ranges search party 6/11/1878 I went out with a serach party under Insp Brook Smith from Wangaratta to Yarrawonga on 6/11/1878.

On 8/11/1878 we went to Lake Rowan and on to Joe Ryan's where we found the tracks of the KellyGang. Const Johnson and I followed them for over 20 miles into the Warby Ranges (RC12365)

On 12/11/1878 I was back in the Warby Ranges with another search party. I came back with Sgt Steele. (RC12478)

I knew that country well and was out with Const Johnson as we followed the tracks on a number of days despite the problem with Insp Brook Smith. I could have taken the others to an exact spot in those hills. (RC12400)

Autum 1879 In late May 1879 was set out to guide Sip Hare's search party into the Warby Ranges and on to Cleary's place (RC1285)

Spring 1879 Early 1880 I was stationed at Milawa about September 1879 (RC12212 )

Cave Party

I was a member of the cave party watching Mrs Byrne's place (RC1717)

I had a play fight with Aaron Sherritt. My mates then held a mock court and found me guilty (BWC)

I came in from the cave party that was set up to watch Mrs Byrnes on 1/4/1880 when it ended. See Also Const Alexander and (RC13588)I was part of the cave party watching Mrs Byrne's. At the end I was asked by SConst Mullane to put in a report. (RC12118)(RC13558) (RC5440)

Death of Aaron Sherritt 26/6/1880 When Joe Byrne came to shoot Aaron Sherritt, he asked for me. He did not like me (RC3781)(RC12212) Glenrowan Siege 28/6/1880

Release of the civilians 10am

I arrived at Glenrowan at about 10am, (from Milawa?)

There was discussion during the afternoon about setting fire to the Inn. I said If you will allow me, I will go to- the end building and bring out Cherry. (RC2883)(RC2957)
