suburb of Melbourne , 4 kilometres from the CBD to the north; on the banks of the Maribyrnong River

Beginings

In 1861, the line from North Melbourne to Essendon, brought the railway to Flemington and later on to the north east of Victoria

They first ran the famous horse race, the Melbourne Cup at the Flemington Race Course in 1861

Ass Com Nicolson caught train for Benalla from Flemington

Insp O'Connor stayed at the 'Ferns' Flemington. He was at Flemington on 27/6/1880 when he heard of Aaron Sherritt's murder.
