Glenrowan Siege 28/6/1880 I was selected by the Chief Secretary to accompany Captain Standish on a special train to Glenrowan on account of my experience with gunshot wounds, gained at the siege of Plevna and elsewhere. (Age29/6/80)(Argus 29/6/80) (FH)
I came down from Benalla on the train with Ned Kelly I gave the Argus a statement about Ned Kelly's condition and how we looked after him. I made a statement to the press. (Argus30/6/80) (Argus30/6/80)
Sup Hare was taken from Benalla to the home of Mr W J Clarke of Rupertswood near Sunbury to recover from his wounds. It was arranged for me to visit Hare each day to look after his wounds. (Age 1/7/80) (Argus5/7/80)

I returned ti Melbourne in 1878. Later Career I was knighted for my service as the senior doctor at Anzac. I died in 1926 .

I was a cousin of Sup Hare and related to Janet Lady Clarke
My father (Charles Ryan) arrived in Australia in 1840 and soon after was at Kilefa station. He had a number of other properties in North eastern Victoria before settling in Melbourne as a stock and station agent (Ryan and Hammond)', He ' also had business dealings with another of my relatives, Mr Snodgrass.
What happened to Dr Charles Ryan's family Maie went on to become Lady Casey. She wrote a number of books.
Rupert married into Scottish aristocracy.
