History at Tallangatta before the KellyGang

First taken up in 1838 by 'Tooth' or David Wilson (45,000 acres). From the original run Annandale, Kangaroo Ground, Razorback, Farleyer and Weem became separate holdings.

James Wilson sold the remaining part of the Tallangatta run in 1868 Menzies and Nicoll.

In 1870 Archibald Menzies purchased the run and held it until 1877 when he sold it to J Inglis and H O'Neill who held it until 1877

In 1876 the license was held by Archibald Menzies ? acres, license fee half year £50

Farleyer was separated in 1873 and sublet to Elliot Heriot of Carabobala

In 1876 the license to Farleyer was held by Archibald Menzies ? acres, license fee half year £93/15

Annadale was separated off in 1865 and in 1871 it was sold to the Singleton Bros who held it as an out station of Thologolong

In 1876 the license to Annadale was held by William Sloane and Robert Jeffray, ? acres, license fee half year £97/10

Kangaroo Ground was separated in about 1847

Razorback is on the west bank of the Tallangatta Creek. It was separated off in about 1865 and in 1876 Archibald Menzies sublet the property to Elliot Heriot of Carabobala.

In 1876 the license to RazorBack was held by Menzies, ? acres, license fee half year £68/15

In 1879 Razorback was transferred with the rest of Tallangatta to Inglis and O'Neill

In 1876 the license to Kangaroo Ground was held by London Chartered Bank, ? acres, license fee half year £150

Weem was the northern part of Tallangatta and it was separated off in about 1871. In 1873 it was sold to Thomas Ley

In 1876 the license to Weem was held by Thomas Ley and Robert Jeffray, ? acres, license fee half year £12/10
