The case of ex Constable Alexander was brought before the Chief Secretary yesterday by Messrs. Cameron, Graves , Billson, and Reid, MLA's. He was a member of the police party which occupied Aaron Sherritt's hut on the night that person was shot by the Kelly gang, and he was dismissed the service on account of his conduct on that occasion. The application made yesterday was, that a board should be appointed to inquire into his case, on the ground that the Police Commission, which recommended his removal, did not do him justice. Mr Berry declined to re-open the case, because the matter had been disposed of two or three years ago, and there was nothing to show that any new points could be brought forward if a new inquiry were granted.
