The Argus at KellyGang 20/6/1879

(full text transcription)

It will be remembered that when the Kelly gang perpetrated the dastardly murder of Sergeant Kennedy and Constables Scanlan and Lonegan, they obtained possession of a Spencer repeating rifle. This arm is not frequently met with in the hands of private citizens and it therefore becomes a very significant fact that the cartridges purchased by the Kelly sympathisers from Mr Rosier, of Elizabeth street, were intended for the weapon in question. There were two men concerned in the affair, one being one of the Lloyds and the other a man whose name is unknown, but whose description was accurately obtained. As has already been stated, warrants were issued by the Melbourne Bench for the arrest of these two offenders.
