The Royal commission appointed to inquire into the state and organisation of the police force, with special reference to the Kelly outrages, meet to-day, at 11 o'clock at the old Treasury buildings. Four of the principal witnesses have been summoned to attend, viz, Captain Standish Mr Nicolson, acting commissioner of police, Superintendent Hare, and Sub inspector O'Connor.  Probably the evidence of the first mentioned will be proceeded with. It has not been decided whether the Press shall be admitted, but it is believed that objection to the publication of the evidence will be overcome by arranging with the newspapers to omit any thing which in the opinion of the chairman might prove injurious to those who assisted the authorities in the efforts made to capture the Kelly gang.
