The Police Commission had a short sitting yesterday. Mr Longmore occupied the chair, and it was agreed that as all the witnesses whom the members wished to examine with respect to the action of the police during the pursuit and destruction of the Kelly gang had given their evidence, Messrs Hare, Nicolson, and Sadleir should be afforded opportunities for commenting upon the testimony, and further explaining their conduct. The commission decided to retain the right to call such other persons as they considered necessary. The officers named are to be allowed until Tuesday next for the purpose of perusing the last issue of the evidence, and on that day their additional statements will be heard. So soon as this branch of the inquiry has been disposed of the commission will proceed with the consideration of recommendations for the future management of the force. The next sitting will be on Tuesday.
