An application was made to Mr Justice Holroyd in the Supreme Court yesterday for a grant of letters of administration to the estate of Sergeant Michael Kennedy. The application was made on behalf of the widow of the deceased Sergeant Kennedy was in charge of the police force who were in pursuit of the Kelly gang in October 1878. Kennedy was shot by the gang. It was not thought necessary till recently to apply for administration of his estate. The affidavit as to the value of the property said that it was £900 realty and £122 personalty, making a total of £1,022. The affidavit was, however, informal, as it did not state that the respective properties did not exceed these amounts in value, and his Honour directed that the application should be renewed when this defect was rectified.
