THE POLICE MURDERS

[BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH]

(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT)

MANSFIELD, Friday

Another week has passed without further revelation as to the outlaws connected with the Mansfield tragedy. The police have been actively searching in various parts, but without obtaining any clue of the Kelly gang. For the best part of the week a number of the police have been going the rounds of the woolsheds in the district to learn whether any of the gang have sought work for the purpose of more effectually concealing themselves, but without any good results. All suspected persons are being watched and every rumour as to the whereabouts of the Kelly gang is being followed up. I think the Government should now offer £1,000 reward for the capture of Ned Kelly, and a promise to the person who can lead to the discovery that his name shall not be made known. This might induce an associate to speak.
