SIR,-I see by the last Town and Country, In Answers to Correspondents, "H. M." (Wood's Flat) desires to know the name of the man who, many years ago, rode into [[Beechworth|Beechworth]], Victoria, on a horse shod with golden shoes. Please to inform "H. M." that the man who rode the horse shod with gold was a storekeeper on the Woolshed; his name was Cameron. He was the first member of Parliament returned for the Ovens district. The horse was shod with gold for him to ride. It was the old trick horse Castor, from Malcolm's Circus in York-street; but at the time of his wearing the golden shoes he was the property of Mr Brown, of Wagga Wagga, and who was in Beechworth with his circus at that time.
The weight of the shoes was 7oz.4dwt each shoe. The shoes were on the horse three days.
