JERILDERIE, THURSDAY

A large and influential meeting was held to day to urge upon the Government the necessity of extending the railway from Hanging Rock to Jerilderie. Messrs, J Quinn, RN Sheridan, and PR. Brem were appointed a deputation to wait on Mr S M'Caughey, of Coonong, and ask if he would proceed to Sydney, and, in conjunction with our member, lay before the Government the advantages to be derived by adopting that route.

The annual meeting of the Jerilderie Pastoral and Agrcultural Society was held to-day. There was a large attendance. The balancesheets showed a surplus of £18 to the credit of the society. It was decided to hold a show in July next
