KYNETON, TUESDAY

Considerable activity is manifested among the police in consequence of information having been received from head quarters of a probable raid of the Kelly gang, who are believed to have left their hiding place and are making for here. The four banks were warned last night to be on the alert and the police who now patrol the streets in private clothes are under arms. Close communication is kept up with the police stations around the district, and constant attention is paid to strangers, a number of whom have been about since Monday. It is impossible to ascertain the nature of the intelligence that has been received as the police are most reticent about the matter but it appears that something of importance has been made know.
