No action has yet been taken by the Government with reference to the report of the Police Commission, and it is not likely that the subject will be considered until the recess. The record of the proceedings at the inquiry is so formidable that no attempt to deal with it can be made until more urgent matters have been disposed of; but the Cabinet hope to be able after the prorogation to devote the necessary attention to the recommendations of the commission.
