== History at Barwidgee before the KellyGang ==

<blockquote>First taken up by '''James [[Properties|Tyson]]''' , an overlander from New South Wales in 1844 who was working for '''Buckland'''. After Tyson took the run up it, was sold in 1848 to '''[[Properties|William Forlonge]]''' (Eliza Forlonge selected the first saxon merino sheep to be brought to Victoria. they went to Seven Creeks). William Forlonge passed Barwidgee on to Richard Box in 1853.

In 1875 the lease was sold to John Huie Ziglar MacVean and William MacVean, who in turn sold it in 1879 to William West.

In 1876 the half yearly license fee was £43 15 00
