== Importance of Coaches ==

While the train had replaced the coaches by the late 1870's on many of the main routes, coaches were still an important way to get around in some of the more remote areas. For instance [[Mansfield|Mansfield]] was linked to Melbourne by various coach routes who took people to and from the railway line.
