History at Loyola before the KellyGang

First taken up in the late 1830s. The licence was first held by Waugh, later Dr John P Rowe (38,000 acres) It was part of the Watson and Hunter empire that was based at Wappan and included Barjar, Dueran, Maindample, Mt Battery, Preston, and Loyola.

Loyola could have also been called Boorolite.
