I was appointed as a Magistrate in Benalla in Jan 1873

I was working as a doctor in Benalla in 1874

I was the deputy coroner in 1875 at Benalla but lost my job when the Government made wholesale cutbacks in Jan 1878

I was appointed by the Government to the Central Board of health in Jan 1876. I was in practice at Benalla at the time

Early Years Fitzpatrick Incident 15/04/1878 Sgt Whelan sent for me when Fitzpatrick returned from his clash with the KellyGang at Eleven Mile Creek at 2am on 16/04/1878. I gave evidence to the Petty Sessions, and also the Court of Assizes at Beechworth. (Argus22/4/78) (RC5947)

I looked after Hare's wounds in Benalla and then went to Glenrowan with Sup Sadeir's party (DailyTelegraph29/6/1880)

Capture of Ned Kelly

I produced a statement as to Ned Kelly's injuries (RC8393)

I attended Ned Kelly at Glenrowan after he was captured and took the green sash he had recieved from Richard Shelton's parents. (Argus29/6/1880) (Argus8/7/80) (FH)

Around noon

At about 12 noon there was a great press of people about the windows and door of the station building around Ned Kelly. I was looking after him.

I assisted Rev Gibney Ned Kelly and attend to him in his way. (RC12299)
