Superintendent [[Winch|Winch]]'s reply to the ad interim report of the Police Commission was laid before the Chief Secretary yesterday. He admits that the charges referring to his relations with Mr H Edwards, of the Old White Hart Hotel, are correct, but denies that he pleaded guilty to them, inasmuch as he did not consider that he had committed any offence. All the other accusations he denies, and he further animadverts upon the manner in which the commission inquired into his case. His reply will be referred to the board to be appointed under the Police Regulation Statute. Sub inspector Larner has also replied, but, as before, he admits the charges of having borrowed money from publicans, but he urges that these have been unduly magnified, and submits that he is not open to the condemnation delivered by the commission.
