Statements in reply to the findings of the Police Commission have been forwarded to the Chief Secretary by Superintendent Hare and Superintendent Sadleir. The former more particularly deals with the answer of the sub-committee to the protest of Mr Dixon. In consequence of the pressure of public business, the Government have not had an opportunity to consider the report of the Police Commission, or any of the papers connected with the recent inquiry. It is understood that two members of the commission who constituted the minority upon one of the main questions decided by the commission contemplate resigning their seats.

The first meeting of the board appointed to inquire into the claims of Mrs Jones, proprietress of the Glenrowan Hotel, which was burned down on the occasion of the destruction of the Kelly gang, will be held at the Treasury to-morrow at 11. The members of the board are Mr Longmore, MLA, chairman, Mr Templeton, and Mr Chatfield Tyler.
