ECHUCA, FRIDAY
The [[Murray River at Kellygang|Murray]] bridge has been kept open all day, traffic proceeding as usual. Three constables have arrived at [[Moama|Moama]] from Deniliquin with reference to the bridge. They do not know as yet what course they have to pursue, and are awaiting instructions as to duty. Rumours are current that the police are sent to close the bride, but so far the real object of the police coming is not known. The general belief is that the exaggerated accounts of the opening of the bridge have caused the authorities to send the constables as a reinforcement to the local force to keep order.
The strike at the Moama Dock continues, and fully half the men employed have suspended operations. A deputation from the working men is to interview the Govern ment engineer to morrow to seek a redress of their grievances-viz, the nonpayment of their wages.
