The Chief Commissioner of Police has made arrangements to retain two of the [[Police Trackers|black trackers]] at present stationed in the North Eastern district at the depot. Victoria barrack St Kilda road for service in case of emergency. Instructions have in consequence been issued directing officers in charge of districts requiring the services of trackers to make application to the Chief Commissioner or the officer in charge in all cases where the depot trackers can be obtained more conveniently than those at Benalla. It is also pointed out that it is of great importance that the services of the trackers should be applied for as soon as possible after the tracks they are required to follow have been made.
