Echuca, January 19.1874
Some very' strange proceedings: occurred on Sunday evening on the [[Moira|Moira run]], Riverina. About twenty persons entered Mr Joachim’s selections with horses and vehicles. They were headed by the hon. John O'Shanassy, who was accompanied by four of Mr Fitzgerald's sons, grandchildren of Mr O'Shanassy.
They proceeded to erect tents, and take possession of Mr Joachim's selections. He protested and placed his foot on one of' the post holes, Mr O'Shanassy ordered a man named Stephen Hagan to do his duty. Hagan rushed and threatened to put a crowbar through Mr Joachim's foot. Mr Joachim, being unarmed, withdrew; and the tents were erected, and left in charge of seven men. Young Fitzgerald then went to Moira station. The feeling is so strong that bloodshed-is expected."
[A further telegram dated Tuesday, contradicts he above statement, and says:-" The report was grossly exaggerated. Mr O'Shanassy took quiet possession of a portion of Mr Joachim's selections, which were legally recovered, and no disturbance took place, nor are any rowdy demonstrations anticipated, both parties being fully sensible of the utter futility of physical force tactics.]
