It is with much pleasure we observe the growing importance of Wangaratta. Every week shows an addition or two to its buildings, either for business or private residence. There is one want, however, which has lately been caused by a couple of public halls being done away with. That of the Royal Victoria has been converted into a bar and sitting rooms, while that of the Council Club, known as the Argyle Rooms (and which was by far the best public hall in Wangaratta, both for its situation and convenience) is now being converted into a double billiard room. So that the only place available at present for public entertainment is the Oddfellows Hall. We are happy to know, however, that the Hibernian Society have taken up the cue, and intend building a large hall on the Catholic school ground. We have no doubt this project will be executed with that zeal and success for which this society is remark able.
