First settled by the Guises, overlanders from New South Wales around 1838. In the 1850s licensed to [[../../things/W_propertiesIx.html|Sydney G Watson]]. (20,000 acres)

On the Murray River north of Corryong

In 1876 the license was held by Sydney Grandison Watson, ? acres, license fee half year £100.

What was Walwa like in the late 1870's

Gold had been mined at Walwa in the 1850's and later in the 1880's whey were crushing quartz at Walwa and extracting gold. There was a tin mine also.
