THE KELLY SYMPATHISERS

BEECHWORTH, Tuesday

Isaiah. Wright, Francis Hearty, Thomas Lloyd, Richard Strickand, John Quin, James Quin, John Lloyd, James Clancy, Daniel Clancy, and John Cain, were again brought before Mr Foster, PM, to-day, charged with aiding' and abetting the Kelly gang. Superintendent Furnell asked that the prisoners should be remanded for another week. Mr Zincke opposed the application, and protested that it was both unjust and illegal to continue imprisonment of the men without any evidence against them. The police magistrate concurred, and said four months ought to be sufficient to enable the police to produce evidence sufficient to justify the further retention of the prisoners. As such evidence was not forthcoming, he would discharge the whole of them. The men then left the court, with several friends who were waiting for them.
