A STEAMER AT SEYMOUR

Great excitement was caused at Seymour on Sunday by the arrival of the steamer Bunyip from Echuca, this being the first vessel that has navigated the Goulburn as far as that town. The proprietors are confident that if the worst snags were removed they could run fortnightly trips during nine months of the year, with a barge carrying forty tons. They will try the experiment for three months. A crowded meeting was held in the Assembly Hall, in reference to rendering the navigation of the Goulburn practicable. Resolutions in favour of the project were carried. £100 were subscribed on the spot. A deputation is to wait upon the Chief Secretary upon the subject. The Bunyip has started on her return voyage to Echuca. We congratulate our Seymour friends upon this auspicious event, which augurs well for their future prosperity.
