How was Ned Kelly captured
'
1/6/1881 Const Dwyer commenced his evidence -
some brief highlights
A few days after the murders of the police by the KellyGang in the ranges Const Dwyer made application to Captain Standish to give me permission to go in pursuit of them, "I stated in that application that I would do my best to search for and capture them or die in the attempt, and now I can truthfully tell you that I faithfully kept my word."
Dwyer went out on search parties after information that was either out of date or untruthful.
He came to the Glenrowan siege with the police party from Wangaratta. They were met by Rawlins and went down to the railway platform and met the press. While Dwyer's party was there Sadleir and his party arrived from Benalla.
Dwyer reported on the welcome given to Sadleir and he then went off to take up his position around the Inn. He only had a shot gun which was not very effective and spent most of his time running messages for Sadleir.
