"the KELLYS." These are matters of great moment well deservmg of prompt attention. We do not regard the actioin, of either of the hon members men -ried?-both of whom sit in the Minsterial corner-in reference to their relations with the Government. We merely wish to express the gratification we feel in observing that some of Mr BERRY'S followers are showing that party considerations do not involve personal effacement nor a complete surrender of independence in the service of the public .

'''Monk'''

MANSFIELD, THURSDAY

[[Wombat ranges|Monk]] a saw mill property at the Wombat was sold yesterday by auction and only brought £450. There was no competition, and the general impression prevailed that the district was not a very desirable one in which to live. During the sale at the Wombat snow fell and continued for many hours, covering the visitors and their horses as with a white mantle.

There has been no reduction in the number of police in Mansfield as yet. Matters regarding the Kellys are quiet, but no suspicious person or circumstance escapes the notice of the police.

A subscription hat has been opened to defray Monks legal expenses in the late iniquiry.
