BENALLA, Wednesday

A trial of reapers and binders took place at Mr [[MacBean|M'Bean]]'s Merangan Station to day. The competing machines were Osborne's, Wood's, M'Cormick's, and Corbett's. There were about two acres and a half for each to cut, and Osborne's finished the task first in 1h 23m, and the others completed in 2h 4m. The judges, however, gave the first prize to M'Cormick's and the second to Osborne's. The decision was not received with satisfaction by the spectators, as most were favourable to Osborne's machines. The barley cut was very good, and the wheat in the adjoining paddocks looks splendid.

The rain has blown over, and the weather is now very warm.
