Mr Canny, who died last week at his home in Johnston street, Collingwood, was the last survivor of a band of six mounted Police which was among the force that went to Glenrowan to capture the Kelly gang in 1880. He was aged 82 years. Before he entered the police force he was an overseer for Captain Charles ?atton at Clear Creek Station, and later he managed the Edi Station for the late Mr R D Reid. After he left the force he conducted hotels for 35 years at Benalla, Richmond , and Melbourne . He was a vice-president of the Richmond Football Club in 1903
