The Argus at KellyGang 13/10/1879
The Benalla Standard of the 10th inst is responsible for the following -"A circumstance occurred last week in Benalla which furnishes fresh proof that the Kellys are still in the neighbourhood, and hold communication with their friends. Efforts were made to glean some information from the quarter which gave rise to this suspicion, but as far as we can learn the individual in possession of certain facts has flatly refused to enlighten any one on the subject, but does not deny that there is foundation in the rumours referred to. It is further reported that the gang has separated. Members of the police force may be seen on the North Eastern line closely scrutinising the passengers in each railway carriage as the trains reach the various stations. Members of the garrison corps are still retained acting sentinel in front of the banks at Euroa, Violet Town, and other places in the north eastern district.
