At the meeting of the Police Commission held yesterday it was decided to recommend the Chief Secretary to relieve Superintendent Winch and Sub inspector Larner from duty, pending further investigation of matters affecting their relations with publicans, upon which evidence has already been given. Mr. Grant concurred in the recommendation, and the chief commissioner of police gave effect to the wishes of the commission Superintendent Nicolas, now stationed at Geelong, will have charge of the metropolitan police during Mr Winch's suspension.
