Importance of Mr Alder
I was the driver of the pilot train to the siege at Glenrowan

Glenrowan Siege 28/6/1880 Special train leaves Melbourne to go to Beechworth - follow up on death of Aaron Sherritt
I was part of the crew of the special train from Melbourne to Benalla.
Train arrives at Benalla
The pilot engine was provided with a brake and I volunteering my services as driver of the pilot engine which led the convoy to Glenrowan. (Argus2/7/1880) See McPhee's version as to what happened
Arrive at Glenrowan
I arrived at Glenrowan by train at about 2.30 am on the morning of the siege and was the person who saw Curnow with his light.
I spent the rest of the day driving trains backwards and forwards from Glenrowan
